Rapid Word Collection

The first step in creating a dictionary is to create a database. This is done by compiling all existing dictionaries into a database and organizing and implementing a Rapid Word Collection (RWC) event. RWC requires that we bring fluent speakers together with a TLC team. Words are collected through a series of word-association exercises. These words are added the database and audio recordings of each word are created. The audio files will be cut and inserted into an audio database with the appropriate linguistic information and metadata. The contents of the database will be carefully checked and corrected for any morphological and phonological irregularities, typos, and duplicates will be eliminated, et cetera. During this stage, additional grammatical information will be added as well as example sentences, and definitions.
