Our Media Players are apps that use augmented reality and build upon all the preexisting language learning materials created by TLC. They utilize textbooks and children’s books to provide learners with further interaction with the books through both audio and animation. The home screen of each language’s app will display a collection of language textbooks and children’s books that the app will recognize. Users use their smartphone (or tablet) camera to get the app to recognize a page in their textbook—this activates the audio and video files associated with the images and lessons on that page. All audio recordings have been created with voices of Native language speakers. Existing media players, like the Crow media player, are updated as new Crow materials are produced and new media players, for example, one for the Northern Cheyenne, are being created.
